Kendrapara: A 60-year-old farmer narrowly escaped death following a crocodile attack in the Mahakalapada block of Kendrapara district on Tuesday.
Prabhat Mandal, a resident of Arun Nagar village, was near the Ramchandi Galia River when the crocodile struck while he was attending to nature's call.
In a fierce struggle for survival lasting about ten minutes, Mandal managed to poke the crocodile in its eyes, which forced the creature to let go of him. Despite his bravery, he sustained severe injuries to his hand and thigh, requiring numerous stitches.
Local villagers came to his aid and transported him to a nearby health facility. The community is now urging the government for assistance, which officials have stated will be provided following the necessary protocols.
